Acromegaly causes a distinct cardiomyopathy. Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) limits cardiac response to exercise and increases cardiac mortality. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is considered the gold standard for assessment of cardiac mass and provides data on function, fibrosis, valves and ischaemia.
